Statements were made in both Division II semi finals games of the First Hawaiian Bank HHSAA State Football Championships. Lahainaluna proved that they are a power. And Iolani proved that they belong. These 2 teams will be meeting each other for the State Championship of Division II on Friday, November 30, at 5:00p at Aloha Stadium.
Iolani, the ILH representative, needed to prove that their losing record was not indicative of their play. Coach Wendall Look’s crew utilized efficiency and capitolization of opportunities to defeat the Kauai Red Raiders 35 – 21 at Iolani’s Eddie Hamada Field.
Quarterback Kela Marciel was 12-16, 222 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Running back Justin Yamamoto had a career day with 26 carries for 146 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
The Raiders will play the Lahainaluna Lunas who dominated the Kaimuki Bulldogs from the OIA, 52-20, in a game played at War Memorial Stadium on Maui.
The Division II State Championship game will be held Friday, November 30, at 5:00p. If you can’t make it there, tune in to our audio broadcast feed for both the D-I and D-II State Football Championship games.
