Every year, for nearly two decades, the best
football players from Kahuku and Laie, and the entire North Shore and Windward
areas, descend on Laie for the annual Laie Park Christmas Bowl.

â??It goes from before Christmas up until the
New Year, says Junior Ah You, a football legend in the community for the past
four decades. â??Itâ??s something we started to keep the kids off the streets during
the holidays.

â??Itâ??s a flag football (tournament) and
everyone comes to play in it. They come home from college or they plan their
vacations around it. Itâ??s our time to share together,â? says Kingsley Ah You, now
36, Juniorâ??s eldest son.

Keisha
Kanekoa, Honokaa,

senior, 5-6 point guard,
averaging 18 points a game??Kanekoa can take over every facet of a game and
is a true leader on the court.  She is an excellent scorer, passer, and
ball-handler, as well as a true student of the game.

Jazzmin
Awa-Williams, Konawaena,

junior, 5-9, forward, averaging 19 points a game??Awa-Williams plays like a
coach??s daughter, which she is.  She??s physically strong and very
athletic and she knows how to take her defender off the dribble and in the
post.

Jamie Smith,
Iolani
,
junior, 6-foot center, averaging 14 points a game??Smith’s attributes are
multi-faceted.  She is a strong scorer and a quick, tenacious defender,
but her most outstanding skill is her ferocity as a rebounder.  Smith
simply controls the boards in every game she plays.

Chelsea
Deptula, Punahou,

senior, 5-10, forward, averaging 8 points a game??Deptula is quick and
long-armed and a tremendous threat in the Buffanblue??s awesome full-court
press.  She also has the ability to score well on the inside.

Megan
Kamehiro, Kalani,

senior, 5-4, point guard,
averaging 12 points a game??Kamehiro presents major problems to opposing
defenses because she knows how to drive hard to the basket and finish.
She also has the ability to take over a game as a three-point shooting
threat.

Shanadee
Canon, Kalaheo,

senior, 5-10 forward, averaging 16 points a game??Canon has played virtually
every position for the Mustangs in her career.  Her versatility is
shown by her ability to break down opposing defenses off the dribble and
knock down both inside and outside shots with regularity.

Iwalani
Rodrigues, Roosevelt,

junior, 5-9, forward, averaging 15 points a game??Rodrigues is arguably the
most athletic player in the state.  She seems to glide up and down the
court and she can turn on her tremendous skills and creative shot-making
with the blink of an eye.

Courtney Gaddis,
Kalani,

senior, 5-11
guard, averaging 13 points a game??Gaddis has the ability to score from
almost anywhere on the court and creates mis-matches at guard because of her
height.  She’s got tremendous court savvy and can take over a game in
an instant.

Chelsie Sato, McKinley,

senior, 5-7 guard, averaging 15 points a game??Sato is one of the top 3-point
shooters in the state.  Besides being a real outside threat, she has
excellent ball-handling abilities and maintains great leadership qualities
on and off the court.

Vicky
Tagalicod, Hilo,

sophomore, 5-9, forward, averaging 18 points a game??Tagalicod is in one
word, a scorer!  She lit it up for 40 points earlier in the season, and she
can light it up from just about anywhere on the court.  She could be
one of the state??s all-time scorers before her high school career is
through.

Dianna Zane,
Roosevelt,

junior, 5-4, point guard, averaging 11 points a game??Zane is a strong
shooter and quick defender and one of the main reasons the Rough Riders had
the #1 seed in the OIA East.  She can spot up for three pointers and
knock them down with regularity.

Nichole Fu,
Maryknoll,

senior, 5-5 point guard, averaging 16 points a game??Fu is one of the
strongest and most athletic point guards in the state.  Her outstanding
ball-handling ability confounds defenders and her quickness and strength
make her a very tough scoring threat.

Jamie Ronolo,
Moanalua,

senior, 5-5, guard, averaging 15 points a game??Tenacious and versatile,
Ronolo will sacrifice her body if she knows it will help her team.  She??s a
scrappy player and a good scorer who also plays tough pressure defense.

Alana
Matayoshi, Iolani,

senior, 5-8, forward,
averaging 9 points a game??Tenacious in-your-face defensive play is
Matayoshi??s forte.  She also has a sweet shot from the outside, plus her
court awareness, poise, and leadership skills really stand out.

Ta Nitra
Byrd, Radford,

freshman, 6-1, center, averaging 14 points a game??Byrd has the potential to
become one of the most dominant post players in Hawaii history.  She is
big and strong, and has shown she can run the court extremely well in
Radford??s run to the top seed in the OIA West.

Analee
Viena-Lota, Kamehameha,

senior, 5-7, guard, averaging 12 points a game??Viena-Lota is smooth as silk
as both a shooter and play-maker.  She has excellent passing skills and
tremendous court savvy and she steps up at big moments during each game.

Injured reserve (The following players have shown all-state
qualities in the past and we believe they deserve special
recognition despite their season-ending injuries):

Shawna-Lei Kuehu, Punahou,

junior, 5-9, forward??Only an ACL injury this past winter could
stop Shawna-Lei, last year??s state Player-of-the-Year.
She??s a cross between Nani Cockett and Brandy Richardson and one
of the top players in the history of girls basketball in Hawaii.

Shaena-Lyn Kuehu, Punahou,

junior, 5-9, forward??Shawna??s twin sister also had an ACL injury
that knocked her out for the season, although it??s a remote
possibility she could be back for the state championships.
Shaena-Lyn is an outstanding defender, strong rebounder, and
good scorer.

Ashley Medcalf, Christian Academy,

senior, 6-0, center??Medcalf was one of the top scorers in the
ILH Division II this season before also suffering the hard luck
of a knee injury.  She??s a tremendous post player who could
literally take over any game she played.

Johanna Sai, Kamehameha,
senior,
5-5, guard??Sai is an outstanding shooter and scorer with a sweet
outside shot that makes her a threat from anywhere.  She??s
very strong off the dribble and an excellent defender, too.

Digital Sports Hawaii is proud to start this annual tradition.
Congratulations to the 20 members of the 2007 Hawaii Dream Team!
